Junior High students at St. Peter’s are integrated with the high school but have an experience that is distinct from upperclassmen.
Students in seventh and eighth grade have a unique integrated experience inside St. Peter’s High School. Our junior high students maintain a separate schedule and identity but are also actively involved as part of one school community.
Our junior high curriculum builds upon elementary school’s foundation with core subjects of religion, language arts, math, science, and social studies. Junior high students can also participate in band, choir, art, and Spanish classes.
Students who excel in a subject may start taking their high school requirements as an eighth grade with the principal and guidance counselor’s approval.
Junior high students are encouraged to take part in playing an active role in the school community. Junior High students have representation in student government and can participate in many of the service programs offered to high school students.
Several sports are offered at the junior high level, including basketball, volleyball, cross country, swimming, and track and field. JH soccer is provided through the Spartan Soccer Club.
Community Service is an integral part of being a student at St. Peter’s School. It is expected that what the students learn in theology and other classes and the home will be put into practical application and use.
There is a quarterly evaluation of the students’ service projects, and it is required for students to be eligible for extracurricular activities. Annual participation in this service program is a requirement for advancement into upper-grade levels. Junior high students are expected to complete 20 hours of service, five per quarter. They may earn half of their yearly requirement during summer vacation if they so choose.
The best way for your child to determine if St. Peter’s is the right school for them is to schedule a one-on-one personal tour or spend the school day with us!
