On Saturday, November 17, seven SPHS students traveled with Mrs. Chengelis to the Great Lakes Peace Jam Slam, held at Battle Creek Central High School. The theme was Ensuring the Rights of Women and Their Role as Leaders. Keynote speaker, Jenn Gibbons, shared her story of rowing around Lake Michigan, solo, to raise awareness and funds for ROW (Recovery on Water), that supports survivors of breast cancer.
Students also participated in various workshops and service opportunities, such as Greening the Neighborhood, Cards for Veterans, Leadership and Identity, West African Drumming, and Advocating & Raising Awareness Through Theater.
