Alumni return to visit students, parents

It was an early morning for 10 special visitors–alumni and parents of alumni–who met in the Franciscan Activity Center for the first-ever “Been there. Done that. I’m glad I did.” event on December 19. These parents and alumni affirmed the strengths of St. Peter’s School: faith-centered environment, strong curriculum including everything from IEPs to honors courses and the post-secondary program, a very dedicated staff, tuition assistance to families who want a St. Peter’s School education, extensive athletic and extracurricular opportunities, supportive community of school families, college scholarship opportunities, and being of another faith and feeling comfortable in a Catholic environment.

At the sixth annual “Alumni Visitation Day” event later in the morning on December 19, twenty-nine SPHS alumni visited with seniors and all underclassmen to talk about preparing for college. Conversations focused on college choices, adjustments in college, and coursework and study habits at the high school level that were helpful in preparing them best for their college career.

Again this year, the discussion with seniors was facilitated by Mr. Mike Mulherin, senior class theology teacher and Mrs. Reith, Mr. Shoulders, Mrs. Rhodes, and Mrs. Haus moderated the discussions with underclassmen.

Development Department staff also visited with seniors and alum to explain the purpose and goals of Development Department projects and mailings-keeping in touch, providing assistance for class reunion contact information, and helping to sustain Catholic education at St. Peter’s.

Thank you, alumni and parents for making these two events very worthwhile for those attending! It was great to have you back in the buildings!
