St. Peter’s High School and Junior High (led by the Junior Theology and Child Development classes) partnered with Richland County Children’s Services for Child Abuse Prevention Month Program during a short program on April 3 in the parish parking lot.
Everyone received a blue ribbon to wear, with a child’s name to keep in prayer during April, Child Abuse Prevention Month.
A message was spelled out saying STOP CHILD ABUSE in the fence and around the message there were 60 “child” cutouts with the initials of children in custody. Students and staff will be praying for them throughout the month.
During the short program, students read important numbers and facts about child abuse and neglect in Richland County, Ohio, and the U.S.
A basket of books, puzzles, and toys for the renovated “supervised visitation” rooms was presented to Children’s Services staff. Students will also be making “comfort knot blankets” for children who are taken out of their homes because of abuse and neglect. (Photographs provided by Kathy Morris.)
