Dig Into Reading

To all St. Peter’s Elementary students from Mrs. Salyers, elementary librarian:

“Don’t forget this summer to sign up for a summer reading program at your local library and keep reading over the summer!”  Reading over the summer helps to strengthen vocabulary and keep students academically sharp for the next school year.

All locations of the Mansfield/Richland County Public Library are sponsoring reading programs for all ages.  The elementary program is called, “Dig Into Reading!”  Students entering 6th grade this fall may participate in the teen program instead, if they choose.  But all students who register for the reading program must complete it to be able to earn the following incentives from Mrs. Salyers!  Every child returning to St. Peter’s Elementary who finishes a summer reading program gets an out-of-dress-code day for next school year and has the opportunity to earn other prizes as well!

Parents, help your students keep track of their progress, and don’t forget to take them to the public library to get their visit stamps!  Elementary students need to go to the same location where they signed up for five (5) different weeks by July 27.  Teens only need to visit to register and turn in completed teen entry forms.   All students must fill out and return the correct number of elementary reading records or teen entry forms.

Parents & Grandparents–reading programs are available for adults, too!  What a great example it would be for your child or grandchild to see YOU participating in the reading program, too!  Ask your St. Peter’s student if they have signed up yet for the public library’s summer reading program.

So . . . this summer . . . DIG INTO READING!!!
