Not Your Average Service Project

The House of St. Andrew decided to think outside of the box when presented with the challenge of planning their service project for the month of September. After much planning and some serious senior leadership, the house decided on a dodgeball tournament to benefit the charities of their choice. Everyone participating was asked to bring in two dollars for the Humane Society and two cans of food to donate to Catholic Charities. In return, students were allowed to wear their house colors and participate in a dodgeball tournament.

Senior Josh Adamescu was the brains behind this project. When asking him about how he came up with the idea he stated, “I wanted to do something different for our service project. I thought that dodgeball was an interesting and fun way for people to get involved in the project rather than just having a typical out of dress code reward.” Senior Andrew Stein was also very involved with this project by creating the bracket for the tournament and coming up with the rules. Adamescu states “I am very happy with the result of our project. I especially enjoyed watching people participate in this fun experience and knowing that I helped make this happen.”

The House of St. Andrew raised $360 dollars for the wish list at the Humane Society and also collected 347 items of food benefitting Catholic Charities.
