In Thanksgiving!
As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches, we’d like to share our good news with all our Parish and School family! This is Fr. Hite’s message of this past Sunday.
“Several years ago, before I even arrived, our parish began to deal with an ever escalating debt, brought on by many circumstances. You may also recall that last year about this time, I spoke to you about the plan to respond to this debt, which had reached $1.1 million dollars. Through the concerted efforts and commitment of the Monsignor Edward C. Dunn Foundation, as well as our own Catholic Diocese of Toledo, we were able to reduce our debt last October to $100,000, plus interest, to be paid off over a period of 3 years.
Today I am pleased and humbled to announce to you that – after only one year – I signed the final payment to the Diocese at our November Finance Council meeting, and St. Peter’s Parish is no longer in debt! My sincere CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF YOU!!
It seems most appropriate at this time of the year to offer sincere THANKS to you, our generous parishioners, for your sacrifice and faith! As a result of you reaching deeply into your hearts – and pockets! – we can now begin to plan for the future. At the same time, let us recall the words of the psalmist , “If the Lord does not build the house, in vain do the builders labor!”
