Eighteen Richland County students were selected as winners of the 20th Annual Richland County Third Grade Coloring Contest. The event is sponsored by Richland Newhope as part of Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month in March. This year’s statewide theme is “Look Beyond.”
Congratulations to St. Peter’s third grader Sarah Hahn who was among those winners! When we talked to Sarah last week, she said she was excited to win the contest because she is interested in disabilities and thinks it is important for everyone to know that no matter what everyone is like, they can all get along. Classroom teacher, Mrs. Togliatti was with Sarah at the awards luncheon last Friday. Thank you to her for sending these beautiful photos of Sarah with her winning coloring piece and Sarah with Miss Ohio and Miss Wheelchair Ohio.
Each of the winners received a certificate, two pencils, a pen, a cut-out crayon, three coloring books and crayons, a ruler, an eraser shaped like a crayon, a button designed by a Newhope individual, a large plush crayon, and their photo with Miss Ohio and Ms. Wheelchair Ohio. In addition, teachers will receive a curriculum resource guide about disabilities. Each school will also receive an awareness poster.
