Iditarod 2014 was a great success and great fun!
The money students raised over the last few weeks was spent at Kroger shopping for groceries the evening before the race. Thank you to Kroger for accommodating all our student shoppers and staff!
SPHS alum, Matt Failor, visited with all school students in the early afternoon on Thursday and talked about the Alaskan Iditarod which he recently completed again this year, placing 15th among all competitors! Following skits by each House group, junior high and high school students then ventured outside with their grocery carts and “mushers” and ran the course. It was the perfect day in terms of weather, every team completed the run and later loaded their groceries in the truck to be taken to Catholic Charities.
Thank you to the Wrights for some photos of the Kroger shopping event and to Mrs. Chengelis for sending photos of the grocery shopping event at Kroger and the Iditarod race.
Here’s our video of the event!
Thank you, also, to our friends at Richland Source and the News Journal who were there to cover the story.
