Graduates from the SPHS Class of 2016 were the first to take the “Senior Walk”, what will now become an annual tradition here at St. Peter’s School. Following the example of the same event at Van High School in the East Texas Independent School District, graduates walked through the halls of St. Peter’s Elementary School after their honors assembly on Thursday, May 19.
The “Senior Walk” gave the elementary staff and students an opportunity to congratulate the St. Peter’s High School Class of 2016 with a lot of hooting and hollering and high (and low!) fives. A secondary goal was to have the little ones aspire to be in the graduates’ shoes some day not too many years from now, accomplished by the fact that one second grader was heard saying “That could be us on those steps some day!”
Following the “Senior Walk”, graduates received a gift and beautiful handmade card from the students and staff and then all gathered outside for a group photo–both serious and goofy! Always got to get that goofy shot!
(Missing from the photo are graduates Bailey Dauterman and Thomas Schlitt who had to leave immediately after the honors assembly for the track sectional competition.)
