High school students in the San Damiano Hall unit have been volunteering in the cafeteria every Monday and Thursday during lunch. In addition to vocational work experience, they are giving back to the school and community in various ways just like all high school students for whom service is a requirement.
Cafeteria manager, Mrs. Brenda Schuck, is open to the idea of the students assisting more with other tasks in the future, especially if those students are interested in culinary/food service. Ms. Olivia Siegfried, their teacher, says the students feel good about helping and making a positive contribution to their school.
