Similar to the excitement of Monday Night Football, a great tradition started many years ago is Powder Puff football Sunday in the fall for SPHS students–all of whom are invited to take part. It involves all four high school grade levels and finds the ladies playing the football and SPHS staff and parents playing the role of referee along with the SPHS gentlemen students cheering and doing some sideline coaching of their own.
Thanks to Corinne Amalfitano for sending these photos and for this summary of results: “We played the best 2/3 games with juniors and sophomores vs. seniors and freshmen. The junior team won the first game. For the second game, the freshmen went with the juniors and sophomores with seniors. The senior team won that game. Everyone had fun with very few injuries.”
