Wednesday, March 14, was National Pi Day and a few festivities occurred in the school buildings to celebrate.
Mr. Bradner and some of his high school math students enjoyed pizza pie made by the cafeteria staff. Students in Mrs. Wynn’s San Damiano Hall classroom did an experiment in math to prove that no matter how big or small a circle is, the relationship between the circumference and the diameter never changes, proving the theory of Pi. (3.14) To do this, they put a piece of string around a circular object and cut it and with that piece of string, cut 3 and 1/7 diameters. Length of Circumference divided by diameter equals Pi. C/d=3.14. They repeated the experiment with a string twizzler and then ate apple pie and gluten free muffins at 1:59 pm because the first 6 digits of Pi are 3.14159. The students read the Pi Day book on Raz Kids last week and learned about Pi Day.
