Learning in San Damiano Hall

0

We have very special students in the K-6 unit at San Damiano Hall. These children are very bright but they are non-traditional learners. Therefore, many of their lessons involve kinesthetic activities and multisensory materials. In these pictures, one student is writing his spelling sentences on a keyboard. Another student is practicing balancing objects on a scale, which is a concrete way to learn Algebra, so he can see that an equation has two sides that must always be “balanced” on both sides to be equal. Two additional students are practicing their spelling words. Since they learn in different ways, one student is writing her words on the board in sentences, and the other is working on Spelling City, which has many multisensory ways to study weekly lists.

Thank you to Mrs. Sharon Wynn, teacher in San Damiano Hall, for sending these photos and information.
