It was a wonderful “Remington” morning! At 8:10 am, St. Peter’s Elementary School second grader, Remington, was totally surprised!
Administrators, local and Columbus media, teachers and second grade classmates watched as she was presented with glasses (manufactured by E Sight in Canada) that will enable her to see with clarity. The gift of these glasses to Remington was made possible by the Visual Bucket List Foundation through donations received since its founding in 2016 by Steve and Christine Myers, St. Peter’s School parents and parishioners. Steve and Christine also have a daughter, Lizzy, with visual impairment. The Visual Bucket List Foundation is a charitable organization from Remington’s hometown of Mansfield, Ohio, that was created to help children with visual limitations access memorable experiences and, if possible, life-changing technology.
The hands-free machine is worn like an over-eye visor that combines a high-definition camera, video display and adjustable functions for zoom, focus and contrast, allowing the wearer to see in real time and for Remington, changes her vision from 20/250 to 20/80. Remington was diagnosed at a very early age with a condition called nystagmus.
Channel 10 Columbus was there along with our local media, News Journal and Richland Source. Catch it on Channel 10 this evening as well as the NJ and RS digital sites.
