St. Peter’s School Delays Start of School Year

[/ultimate_heading][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Dear St. Peter’s Family,

After thorough consideration of all available information and feedback from parents, teachers, and administrators, we have decided to delay the start of the 2020-21 St. Peter’s School year and implement a staggered start.  In addition to allowing teachers and staff time to plan and prepare for the implementation of our Restart Smart plan, doing so will also provide time to individually assess Pre-K to Sixth-grade students and allow students to acclimate to the campus’ new policies and procedures in small groups.  The plan for each building is as follows:

Elementary
Each Traditional K-6 student will sign up for an individual assessment appointment during the week of August 31.  More information and the signup form will be coming next week.  Each grade will attend school for the entire day (8:00 a.m. – 2:50 p.m.) for orientation and to meet the teachers.

  • Wednesday, September 2 – Grades 5 & 6
  • Thursday, September 3 – Grades 3 & 4
  • Friday, September 4 – Traditional Kindergarten – Grade 2

High School/Junior High
Each grade will attend one day during the week for orientation from (7:50 a.m. – 2:45 p.m).

  • Monday, August 31 – Seniors
  • Tuesday, September 1 – Juniors & Sophomores
  • Wednesday, September 2 – Freshman
  • Thursday, September 3 – 8th Grade
  • Friday, September 4 – 7th Grade

All students will report to class on Tuesday, September 8.

Both buildings will hold virtual open house nights the week of August 31.  This will allow parents to get to know our staff and buildings.  More information will be forthcoming.

All families will be receiving a form next week requesting you to declare how you would prefer your child(ren) to return to school, either in-person or via remote learning.  This will also include specific information on what to expect from each setting and explain the process for changing between the two.  This information will enable us to ensure appropriate distancing for those students who return in person as well as enact appropriate learning plans for those who will be learning remotely.

We know that the current situation is stressful for all involved and we are working very hard to maintain a learning environment at St. Peter’s that is both safe and effective.  We will continue to release important information in the coming weeks to keep you informed.  In the meantime, if you have questions, please refer them to your building principals.

Thank you all for your support and commitment to Catholic education at St. Peter’s School.

Sincerely,

Ashley Rastorfer
Elementary Principal/Montessori Director
