Dear St. Peter’s School Families,

We are pleased to inform you that our students (grades 3-7) scored very well on the Scantron tests taken during the month of April.  We recently received statistical information from the Toledo Diocese and wanted to share with you the overall results from our school.  We also wanted to share with you how our school performed in comparison to all other Toledo Diocesan schools.

In our diocese, there are 63 elementary schools, all of which took the Scantron test in grades 3, 5, and 7.  In grades 4, 6, and 8 the tests are optional, so there are not as many schools across our diocese that administer the test at these grade levels.  We choose to take the test in grades 4 and 6 to measure academic growth in our students and to look at areas of strength and weakness in each student as well as in our curriculum.  Eighth grade students do not take the Scantron tests because at that grade level we administer the EXPLORE tests, which give us informative results and also prepare students for standardized tests like the PLAN, PSAT, ACT, and SAT.

The information attached will provide you with data about how well our students performed on the Scantron test taken during the month of April in comparison to diocesan and national averages.  Students took four tests:  reading, language arts, math, and science.  The scores achieved on each one of these tests placed the students within one of four categories:  above average, high average, low average, or below average.

Sincerely,
