See You at the Pole

The 23rd annual See You at the Pole had as its theme this year “If we pray, seek, turn; then God hears, forgives, heals.”  Leading prayer was Mr. Charlie Henrich with his good friend Mr. Roy Shoulders alongside as well as other staff and students from St. Peter’s High School and Junior High very early on Wednesday morning–7:20 a.m. in fact.

This global day of student prayer began in 1990 as a grass roots movement with ten students praying at their school. Twenty years later, millions pray on their campuses on the fourth Wednesday in September.

Students meet at the school flagpole before school to lift up their friends, families, teachers, school, and nation to God. On Wednesday, September 25, students from St. Peter’s School gathered on the front steps of the high school building for the See You at the Pole morning prayer.

Mr. Henrich began prayer and students and staff who joined the circle of prayer were then invited to add special intentions for which all would pray.

After the prayer service, donuts, milk and juice were available as an early morning snack.

Thank you to local News Journal media staff–Mr. Dave Polcyn, photographer, and Mrs. Lou Whitmire, reporter–who woke up early as well to cover the event.  You can check out their story and photos on the News Journal site.
